Ground Coffee

My experiments with ground coffee continue. Recently I've been brewing some of the Skanerost from Lofbergs Lila. This is a dark roast that Ikea imports to the US. A 9 ounce bag is only $2.99. It's pretty good coffee, not bad. Has a nice full body but could use a better aftertaste.

New Coffeemaker

I got tired of the Melitta Clarity so I recently ordered this Presto Scandinavian. The Scandinavian is similar to the Clarity and the much more expensive Technivorm in that it has multiple elements to produce much hotter water for a more appropriate brewing temperature of 195 to 200 degrees F. Looks much better on the counter as well with a much smaller footprint. So far, I've been very satisfied with the performance. We'll see how it hold up long term. Apparently Presto has decided to stop making this model however.

Heat Wave

It's been unbelieveably hot here and will be hotter today. Our oldest is at camp this week and I'm worried about him. Hopefully the counselors know what they are doing.

This morning I brewed some Seattle's Best Coffee Breakfast Blead. It was on sale and our local Giant and I had a coupon as well. I'm a sucker for what appears to be a deal. Unfortunately all our store stocks is pre-ground coffee. The brewed coffee is still pretty good however. Very pleasant aftertaste. Not my favorite, but at about $5.00 a pound, not bad either.
